NOTE! Make sure you check out the TWO PAGE VERSION of this ad also hosted on AdHack!...moving on...
Corona! The first beer you think of during Saint Patrick's Day right?! Right?!
That's what I thought....not so much. In this one page version of my Saint Patrick's Day ad we get right to the point.
A lot of brands change their look to match the season, which is fine but some times it's great to just stick to what you know best. Corona often does this in it's advertisement and I think it works for them.
Just because it's not Christmas doesn't mean you can't spread joy, and just because it's Saint Patrick's Day doesn't mean you can't have a Corona!
This ad is made from 5 different photos. One of the guys feet, a nicer post card looking beach, a picture of the beer bottle, one of the sky and one of the shamrock. All were found using simple google.ca image search, and the only program used to manipulate the photos was Adobe Photoshop CS2.
Problem Statement
How do you encourage consumers to buy a beer on St. Patricks day, when the beer is traditionally associated with summer parties, beaches and tropical ad campaigns? Also, how do you refrain from using stereotypic "greens" and maintain your over all brand image.
Goals
To get people to think of buying a Corona on St. Patricks day.
Audience
Males 19-32 who are celebrating St. Patricks day.

Saint Patrick's Corona
Submitted by ddrucker on Wed, 07/09/2008 - 6:10pm.What if the beer were green?
Green beer?
Submitted by James Sherrett on Wed, 07/16/2008 - 5:54pm.I don't like the idea of green Corona beer. I associate green beer with bad draft that only appears on St. Patrick's Day. I like the subtlety of the shamrock in the clouds to distinguish this ad from other Corona ads.
Green beer!
Submitted by Corey Rollins on Fri, 07/18/2008 - 3:45pm.I actually thought about this, but decided against it because we were encouraged not to use stereotypical colours / themes. Also i thought it took away from "miles away from ordinary." If it was green, it wouldn't be very different from the other St Patty's brews!
You are perfectly right,
Submitted by geremy on Mon, 11/24/2008 - 10:33am.You are perfectly right, sometimes changing the look of the product also means changing a part of the perception for that product. Corona is a great accessible beer, too bad you don't find it in every beer club.
Huh?
Submitted by Problem Detector (not verified) on Tue, 02/28/2012 - 5:26pm.The REAL problem with this is that a four leaf clover has nothing to do with St. Patrick's Day. Um... how about a shamrock-???
